*Due to the Covid-19 virus, the Sudden Valley Community Center barn and the South Whatcom Library are temporarily closed to the public.
The Valley Arts Group, a non-profit (501(c)3) corporation, was founded in 2005 to meet the needs of Sudden Valley artists and residents. This group promotes art exhibits and sales, field trips, art classes, Plein air painting sessions and art challenges. One yearly goal is to provide a Student Art Scholarship to a local art student. We meet quarterly, on the second Saturday of January, April, July and October at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Barn Creekside Activity Center. If you are interested in joining the group, please visit the Become a Member page.
Featured Artist: Rhea Booth
For the first quarter of the new year our Featured Artist Rhea Booth will be exhibiting her exciting new artwork at the Sudden Valley Clubhouse by the entrance to the El Agave restaurant. Rhea’s exhibit will include a series of 6 maps and 2 landscapes. The 6 maps are fictional places that have pieces of real cities (like Bellingham and Pullman) which inspired each piece. The maps connect geographically but each represent a unique ecosystem and color scheme. The two landscape paintings offer a different perspective of two of the maps. Rhea used acrylic paint, canvas, pen, and watercolor paper. Everyone should make a point of viewing this exhibit.
