Roz Claffey

Malaysian-born artist Roz Claffey renewed her interest in painting following career-focused years in California as she joined her husband for twenty-five years of overseas assignments with the U.S. State Department.

She drew inspiration from the several countries where she lived during that time abroad: Botswana, Cape Town South Africa, Fiji, Perth Australia, Pretoria South Africa, Mauritius and Malaysia. Short periods of visits to Namibia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Mozambique further added to the visual backgrounds from which she has drawn her subjects over the last thirty years.

She enjoys working in various media including oils, water colors, pastels, charcoals and acrylics. Following technique focused sessions with art mentors in South Africa, she held two well received exhibitions in Cape Town.

A resident of Sudden Valley since returning from overseas in 2011, she now draws upon the wealth of visual stimulation in Washington State for new subjects.
